Essay: History and Effects of Child Abuse

The
history of childhood is not the brightest and purest page in the history of mankind. The more person immerses into this case, the more horrible picture he finds. During centuries children have been killed, beaten, sexually abused, rejected and terrorized by adults. Modern psychological theories insist on the fact that child abuse holds together families, as it’s a kind of solving emotional problems. A number of theories continue these ones and say that child abuse stimulates solving collective emotional problems of the whole society.

The first data that we can relate to child abuse are connected with ancient child sacrifice. At Carthage there was found a cemetery where were buried more then 20,000 children, this event dates back to 400-200 BC. Parents used to vow to kill their next child if gods would be gracious to them. Sometimes the parents had to kill their first child if the promised child wasn’t born alive. Such kind of sacrifice was a happy ritual with singing and dancing sometimes accompanied by the ritual rape of virgin girls. A similar ritual exists even nowadays in the Andean Mountains. Such kinds of rituals resemble satanic rituals where sexual abuse, rape and genital mutilation of children take place. Continue reading “Essay: History and Effects of Child Abuse”

Paradise Lost Research Paper

Within
the scope of this research, we will analyze JOHN Milton’s famous work “Paradise Lost” and illustrate how it is correlated with the so-called Romantic Revolt of the early 17th century. “The romantic revolt against traditional formalities gratified those displeased with the narrow limits of neoclassic literature, painting, and architecture.” () This was the revolt against rationalism and Milton, with his work ‘Paradise Lost’, showed an example to other writers how to speak in poetic prose in order to move hearts and minds of the people.

Milton’s showing inequality between Adam and Eve is one of the most significant aspects of the revolt addresses above. Milton addressing Eve “resembles less/ His image who made both”(8.543-4), believes that Adam is the superior being of the two. Inequality with regard to intellect also exists. Eve realizes that her “beauty is excelled by manly grace/ And wisdom, which alone is truly fair” (4.490-1), suggestive of Adam’s wisdom surpassing not merely hers but her most extraordinary attribute as well, her beauty.

Moreover, Milton notes that Eve leaves Adam and Raphael’s conversation because she cannot endure “thoughts abstruse” (8.40). Spirituality is yet another inequity in Paradise Lost. Eve attaches to God’s law through her husband, who happens to be her law. She is not told about the inhibition by God, but by her husband. Eve does not learn from God’s angel Raphael, but again through her husband. Adam is made “for God only, she for God in him” (4.299). Continue reading “Paradise Lost Research Paper”

Time Management Essay Example

According
to Misra and McKean, stress among college students is directly related to the time management behaviors their exhibit – if they have a system with which they set, prioritize, achieve and track their goal in accordance to importance and urgency, they organize their time better and the stress levels among them become minimized (Misra Ranjita 2000). Based on that finding and the fact that I want to bring change to my life by being more organized, aim to avoid tardiness in my college work, my duties as a parent and to minimize the time I spend in procrastination, I start this paper to take the needed steps to do so. I start with a current activity report with analysis, then I will make suggestions and perform a cost-benefit analysis to estimate the effect of the changes that I am planning to implement. In the end, I conclude the findings that have been made.

Astronomy Research Paper

Introduction
Current research in astronomy embraces a range of problems related to the peculiarities of different celestial bodies and ways in which better knowledge of astronomical phenomena can help humans in various spheres. This paper will explore two important areas of research. The first is an attempt to explain the truncation of stellar discs with the application of the magnetic hypothesis. The second is a more general problem related to the ongoing research aiming to define the age of the universe.

Truncation of stellar discs
The paper prepared by a team of researchers from University de Granada in Spain attempts to test the viability of the magnetic hypothesis in the explanation of the truncation of stellar discs. In their mind, the formation of the stellar disc is influenced by three forces including magnetic and gravitational forces, inwards, and centrifugal forces. The sudden suppression of the magnetic force at the time when the new disc is formed is accompanied by insufficient gravitational force that cannot retain the disc at the same place. As a result, the disc is bound to shift into intergalactic space from its galactocentric orbit. The scientists predicted that their observations would demonstrate this discrepancy between the actual and the galactocentric radii which they called “truncation radius”. Interracial Dating Essay

Societies
over the globe are growing to be more diverse with every year. As representatives of different races, cultures, and ethnicities increasingly meet each other on a daily basis, interracial dating becomes reality for many couples. It happens naturally as people are attracted to each other my similarity of souls, ideas, and characters that can transgress racial boundaries. Inter racial dating and marriage have some pros and cons to dating someone of a different race, many of them connected to the boundaries between races that still exist in most societies.

The most obvious downside is that people most probably come from different cultural backgrounds, which can generate misunderstanding on many issues. This is not necessarily true since two people that were born in the US can have more common culture to share, even being of different race, than, say, two Africans coming from different countries. However, some ethnic patterns concerning male-female relationships, gender roles, etc, do persist and can prove problematic in close relationships. Continue reading “Interracial Dating Essay”

Essay on Confucianism and Daoism

For
thousands years people associated all inexplicable phenomena with some supernatural beings like God and Devil. Different cultures developed diverse points of view, traditions and explanations for the same phenomena, and unified them into different religions and philosophies. This essay concerns two philosophies – Confucianism and Daoism – which are among the most widely-spread and ancient world philosophies.

Daoism is one of major Chinese philosophical schools and traditional Chinese religion. The prefix “Dao” means the “way” and is the major category of Chinese philosophy accepted by most philosophical schools in China. “Dao” implies the deepest truth and the righteous course of life. The school of Daoism was founded by a great sage Laozi before the Common Era; later Laozi was deified by his progeny. Among the most important concepts of this philosophy are the following: virtue, name, eternal and other. Another major category in Daoism is Yin and Yang which symbolize two opposing but interdependent forces – the dark and the bright, the evil and the good, the night and the day, the water and the fire. This symbol implies that every aspect of our life has two sides depending on the point of view – good and evil, right or wrong, hot and cold – which never stand alone. Yin and Yang can not be absolutely divided – they present everywhere in relative amounts and there is only a little step separates the Yin state from Yang. Everything can be considered from the point of Yin and Yang. Continue reading “Essay on Confucianism and Daoism”

Research Paper: The Benefits of Human Cloning

ABSTRACT
Human
cloning can create a wealth of potential benefits for health care and society. Thus, it can help fight the worst cases of infertility, giving couples that were considered hopeless a chance to produce offspring. Techniques developed in cloning can also overcome birth defects and be used to improve genetic composition of newborns. Somatic cell nuclear transfer technology applied by scientists who produce clones helps to generate transplants that do not trigger an immune response and thus allow treatment of previously incurable diseases.
