William Henry “Bill” Cosby, Jr., born 12 July 1937 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is an American author, director, film producer, and comedian actor. He was the first black actor to win an Emmy, and has also won several other awards, including Aftonbladet TV Prize four times. He has also directed the film Bill Cosby on stage (1983).

Bill Cosby is married to Camille Hanks. They have four daughters together (Erika, Erinn, Ensa, and Evin) and one son, Ennis, who became victim of a murder and robbery on January 16, 1997 when he took on a dark highway in Los Angeles to change a tire of his car. Mikhail Markhasev, a Ukrainian immigrant, was found guilty in August 1998 to have shot and robbed Ennis Cosby. He got a life sentence without the possibility of parole.
2002 Bill Cosby was honored with the Presidential Medal of Freedom, which the highest civilian award of the USA.
Cosby has also appeared in advertising and became the first to win the American Advertising Federation’s price in 2011. Cosby first commercial job was for White Owl cigars and he has since done commercials for, among other things, Jell-O, Texas Instruments, Coca-Cola, and Kodak. For his involvement in the marketing of TI, Cosby got a million dollars a year. Cosby was also employed by the U.S. election authority to increase turnout among African Americans to the federal election in 1990.
