Combining Physical Fitness with Education

Sports are an important part of just about every group, every society, every country, every part of our planet. In one or another way, every person is involved in some kind of a sport activity: whether she/he is playing something, watching the game on TV or just knows someone who does either of the above.

In some countries sport is described as the national passion, a sheer leisure activity that somehow has become symbolic of some country’s national character. Whether people prefer to watch slim swimmers, battling attractive tennis stars or laconic cricketers or golfers scoring in the hot sun, most of us admit to having at least some kind of a sport interest.

Sports are especially important nowadays in the time of incredibly competition and survival of the fittest. People not only play games for entertainment, they are playing sports to become stronger and tougher in order to survive in the flow of the today’s life. There are still question about the time when the person should start doing sports, and if it is necessary to play sports during the school years, because sports may interfere with the academic performance, etc.

However, more and more scientists as well as parents and children realize that not only combining physical fitness with education is useful, it is in fact vital nowadays.

All parents want their children to be active, energetic and healthy, and playing sports is one of many ways to achieve that. But at the same time, kids can – and a lot of times do – get injured or hurt while playing, and of course no parent wants to see his or her child in the emergency room, and that is probably one of the reasons why some parents still feel confused.

Participating in sports is very important for motor skill development, maintaining a healthy exercise program and provides the release of anger when the academic stressors become devastating and overwhelming. When teens for example participate in high school sports they release some particular hormones and that decreases anger and increases energy and activeness as well as boosts the mood. Most schools nowadays require at least a C average to participate in the sports, which provides the student with responsibility. School sports also increase the connection between children and their parents, the bond between them becomes stronger and stronger each time a parent comes to the file to cheer his kid up.

Playing sports can be extremely beneficial on many levels. First and most obvious, playing sports means physical activity – a necessity for maintaining good health, this is especially important for the kids of the school age. Second, playing for a team can help children learn about: following the sport safety rules, looking out for others and working together, and besides, sports can be and usually are a lot of fun. Deciding, which sports children like the best, and making their own decision also lets children learn about making choices and decisions.

Playing sports also reduces risk of heart failure, helps the reduction and maintenance of the weight, teaches self-discipline, improves self-confidence and the main thing increases the love of school and classmates and most importantly it boosts the academic performance and not makes fall.

To sum everything up, I would like to say that physical activities offer a necessary release that is needed for every person. Sports at school enable the entire school-body to come together, whether playing, or observing, to cheer for their schoolmates. While offering an pleasurable distraction from the stressors and irritators of the school, teenager’s negative perception of school as being a prison is replaced with increased school pride and feeling of delight. This increased interest in school and its life generally results in increased enjoyment of academic participation as well, resulting in better overall test scores and grades. So as can be seen from the arguments above combining physical fitness with education is essential.
