Additional History
The patient may be suffering from a musculoskeletal condition that requires a series of X-rays and
MRI to be performed from the case study and the descriptions (Ribeiro et al., 2017). The additional
parts of the PE would have narrowed down to the possible case for discomfort that the patient
experiences.
Most Likely Diagnosis
The signs and symptoms that the patient has identified indicate a musculoskeletal problem, which is
manifested in pain at the posterior thigh and knees (Gallagher & Schall Jr, 2017). Moreover, a
possible mental and nervous system challenge is evident through the depression of working from home
and the daughter’s situation.
Etiologies of Low Back Pain
The patient also identifies low back pain, which is etiologically represented by the pain
situation’s visceral and non-mechanical aspects (Gomez-Galan et al., 2017). Other aspects of
back pain include aching muscle, burning and stabbing sensation, and discomfort while moving limbs
through lifting, walking, or twisting. These aspects are evident in the patient’s description.
However, the patient denies numbness or weakness that could be associated with such conditions.
The Red Flag Signs and Symptoms
The patient describes several red flag symptoms, leading to an ideal diagnosis for the muscular and
skeletal challenges. For instance, the patient complains of low back pain, the posterior thigh and
the knees discomfort, and the challenges with extended sitting or walking (Gallagher & Schall
Jr, 2017). All these discomforts are a red flag to most of the conditions that have musculoskeletal
elements.
Treatment Plan
Some of the treatment plans include physical and emotional therapy to stretch and affirm the
skeletal and muscular systems. Moreover, using heat or cold can help enhance the management and
recovery processes (Gomez-Galan et al., 2017). Besides, excessive rests or reduced workload can
help, especially when combined with acupuncture and acupressure. Biofeedback techniques and
relaxation can help reduce stress.
Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Strategies
The health promotion mechanism is a need for therapeutic and other systemic aspects of managing the
situation (Gomez-Galan et al., 2017). These interventions will reduce the risk factors associated
with the conditions described.
